Abstract
Phonetic difficulty in the learning of reading and writing in Algerian schools.
This paper presents an inquiry effected by the end of the schoolyear 1971-1972, concerning the first four years of scholarship of the Algerian children attending the public schools in the city of Algiers ( 2 years in Arabic, introduction to French in the third year). The difficulties in learning reading , orthography and Arabic writing have been analysed by means of percentage established by schoolteachers in relation with the results reached by all their pupils.
