الملخص
إن فكرة الطريقة لم تحظ قط، في علم اللغة، بتعريف واضح ومرض تماما. وهذا هو الحال بالتأكيد لأسباب عديدة. ولكن هناك شيء يبدو أساسيًا: لدينا عدد قليل جدًا من الأوصاف للوظيفة النمطية المحددة للعناصر اللغوية التي يُنظر إليها على أنها شرطية (يتم وصفها بالأحرى على أنها مساعدات، كأحوال، وما إلى ذلك). هذا النقص في الأوصاف يجعل أي محاولة للتنظير مشوهة للغاية.
ولهذا سأقتصر هنا على عدد معين من الملاحظات، التي تدخل في نطاق الطريقة، فيما يتعلق بقوة الفعل.
