Abstract
This study aims to highlight the importance of teaching English at the primary education level within the framework of the educational reforms adopted by the Algerian school system, which seek to enhance pupils’ cognitive performance during this critical stage of their academic development. The research employed a descriptive-analytical approach to examine the mechanisms of primary school pupils’ engagement in learning English** by analyzing the pedagogical practices implemented by teachers both inside and outside the classroom learning environment.
The findings revealed that students’ effective engagement is closely linked to the quality of their interaction with the teacher and to the use of interactive and enjoyable teaching methods based on play and motivation. Such approaches significantly enhance learners’ motivation and deepen their acquisition of essential linguistic skills.
