Assessment of Linguistic Inventory in Children Diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder : A Comparative Study

Abstract
The study aimed to assess the level of linguistic inventory in both receptive and productive aspects using the Khomsi test for evaluating oral language for two groups of children. The first group consisted of 7 typically developing children, while the second group consisted of 7 children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), aged between 9 and 10 years. The results revealed statistically sign can’t differences in the linguistic inventory between the two groups, in favor of typically developing children, these differences were evident in both receptive and productive dimensions separately, these findings indicate that children with autism spectrum disorder possess a lower linguistic inventory, which negatively affects their communicative and interactive abilities compared to typically developing to typically developing children.
