The Scientific Council of the institution is an advisory body to the center. It provides its opinions and recommendations concerning all aspects of scientific research specific to the institution. The Scientific Council of the institution deliberates on scientific research matters as defined in the specific founding statute of the public institution of a scientific and technological character.

Composition of the Council

In addition to the Director of the institution and the directors of research units, the Scientific Council is composed of a minimum of twelve (12) to a maximum of eighteen (18) members, selected as follows:

From the institution’s permanent researchers, elected by their peers according to the following distribution:

    Research Directors and Senior Research Fellows.

    E

    Research Associates and Assistant Research Fellows.

    from scientists external to the institution, holding at a minimum the rank of Research Professor or an equivalent rank.  They are selected primarily from among researchers working for research bodies whose fields of specialization are linked to the institution’s activities.

      Of national scientists working abroad and not resident in Algeria.

        In the event that the conditions for the specified rank above are not fully met, researchers holding the immediately lower appropriate rank shall occupy the positions according to the same proportions..

        The Scientific Council is chaired by a permanent researcher, elected by the members of the Scientific Council from among the elected permanent researchers holding the highest ranks.

        The official roster of members of the Scientific Council is established by a decision of the supervisory authority every four (4) years.
