Pursuant to Ministerial Decree No. 829 dated 13 October 2013, providing for the establishment of a Research Unit entitled “Linguistic Research and Issues of the Arabic Language in Algeria” within the Scientific and Technical Research Center for the Development of the Arabic Language, and in accordance with the provisions of paragraph one of Article 9 and Article 21 of Executive Decree No. 99-257 dated 8 Sha‘ban 1420 AH, corresponding to 16 November 1999, concerning the establishment of research units, a research unit entitled “Linguistic Research and Issues of the Arabic Language in Algeria” was created within the Scientific and Technical Research Center for the Development of the Arabic Language, hereinafter referred to in the text as the “Research Unit.”

In addition to the tasks defined in Article 6 of Executive Decree No. 99-257 dated 16 November 1999, the Research Unit is entrusted with the following missions:
Coordinating and structuring various research projects and studies conducted on issues related to the Arabic language in Algeria, particularly field research that directly addresses the realities of Arabic language development in society.
Achieving tangible results grounded in actual language use, by examining issues of the Arabic language in Algeria from an academic linguistic perspective that provides a rigorous and scientifically sound framework.
Research Project
This unit is engaged in a research project entitled: “The Spoken Arabic Dictionary of School Textbook Vocabulary.”
